Qualifications

I have had a long and varied career in many artist pursuits supported by my management, bookkeeping, construction and manufacturing skills.

Beginning with Lithography, I attained the position of Master Cameraman in the Lithographers and Photoengravers International Union, often working unattended, with the responsibility not only of my camera jobs, but being relied upon to complete all aspects of Lithographic Plate making, including black and white camera work, 4 color process separations, etching, stripping and plate making.

While holding down this full time job I also became adept at boat building, constructing 25 dinghies and dories 16 feet and under, a 36 foot sloop and a 41 foot cutter, in a variety of media.

In 1977 I moved to Canada and supported myself as a potter and a musician, built my own home, including plumbing and electrical installation, and after a few years I opened and managed my own music store and employees. After 7 years as a businessman I was offered an apprenticeship as a goldsmith, which I accepted and completed in 4 years, and have worked in this field until now. While working as a goldsmith I also gutted and rebuilt a 41 foot cutter on which my wife and children and I then lived for 2 years. In 2001, we all moved to California, and after working as a Goldsmith for 3 years I opened my own business, Goldwork Jewelry Studio.

Looking back I see I have always been trusted to work on my own, to deal with the public and to handle all aspects of business management. I am happiest working with my hands, designing, building, repairing, and manufacturing, and I am proficient in business and employee management.
